Without a doubt, this question comes from a heart that considers itself in need of salvation.

Today, I set out to answer the question, how to be saved? Starting from a bible text I was studying this morning:
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, (…) that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:11 -14
#1 Understand that only Jesus Saves
This portion of the Bible begins with two words that answer our question.
Those words are “In Him.”
In Christ.
The Bible teaches of Jesus that “in no other is there salvation; for there is no other name under heaven, given to men, in which we can be saved.”
What this means is that only Jesus’ sacrifice on behalf of mankind, dying on the cross, made possible a path of reconciliation between God and humanity.
To find salvation, there is only one who can grant it, his name is Jesus.
#2 Believe the Gospel
Today’s Bible text continues to reveal to us how we can be saved.
It tells us that salvation comes by believing the word of truth, the gospel.
Now, what exactly is that message that brings salvation by believing it?
The message is good news.
The good news that Jesus paid off our debt by dying on the cross, that Jesus after dying for you and me rose from the dead.
The good news that now we need to trust that what He did on our behalf is true, and that it is more than enough to save us.
To be saved, we need to put aside our self-confidence.
Trusting that our own actions earn us points with God, and understanding that because of the seriousness of our problem, nothing we can do is enough.
And therein lies God’s wonderful display of love, because we couldn’t do it, God did it all for us, and now He gives us salvation as a gift.
To be saved, it is necessary to believe.
#3 Put your trust in Jesus
This text also mentions something important, it says, “In Christ (…), we have placed our trust.”
Dear reader, to be saved, you do not need to fulfill a list of extraordinary duties.
Salvation is free, you do not have to pay with it through works.
It’s a matter of faith.
Just by believing in Jesus and putting our hope in Him.
To put in Him our trust as our only merit of salvation.
Now, believing is not just a thing that is said, it is a way of life.
To believe is to accept the reality of God and Jesus as God.
Accept their supremacy over the universe, and their interest in being part of our lives.
That’s why believing means enjoying God.
Living with Him, walking with Him, talking to Him, consulting Him, avoiding what carries us away from Him.
Not to be saved, but to keep ourselves in faith, so that we do not depart from the source of our salvation and renounce it.
But the good news aren’t over yet.
God is so good that after saving us, he helps us to keep believing.
He stays with us walking the path of our sanctification step by step.
After believing, God Himself puts on us his seal, which is the Holy Spirit, and with him gives us the guarantee of salvation.
The Holy Spirit is our guarantee, the one who directs our life until we receive our eternal inheritance.
To be saved, we need to simply abandon ourselves in God’s loving arms and allow Him to be the one to save us.
