Some years ago, I heard a preacher say a phrase that I liked very much: “Wherever I go, the blessing of God goes.”
Over the years, I have been able to see how that phrase is a reality in my life.
Today, I would like to share with you a Bible story that highlights one aspect of that reality.
An aspect that I consider to be key to knowing how to be liked by the people we come into contact with.
It is about the story of Daniel after being taken captive to Babylon.
After being selected for Babylonian education and for potentially becoming a counselor to the king, Daniel was ordered to eat food and drink sacrificed and offered to idols.
In addition, that food contained unclean animal meat and meats that had not been prepared according to the standards that God had given the jewish people.
Daniel was not willing to eat these foods for reasons of his personal convictions and principles, based on the word of God.
Although in his position he had no right to choose, he resolved to speak with his new leaders so that they would not force him to eat that food.
There really was no reason for these people to want to help Daniel.
In this part of the bible story, there comes a little verse that speaks clearly to us on the subject of getting people to like us.
(…) God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel (…).

As you can see, something unexpected happened.
God made Daniel be liked by the people who had power over him so that they would help him not to defile himself with that food.
Even when they did not have to do it, and even when this meant a risk to the lives of these people by disobeying a direct order from the king.
When we pray to ask God to help us find grace in the eyes of the people around us, God can help us to be liked by them.
He can help us soften our character, give us wise words, he can make people hold inexplicable affections for us in a way that only he can.
My advice for people to like you is to allow God to come into the equation.
May you begin to pray for God to touch the hearts of the people you interact with so that they are pleased with you.
It may be that you want to be liked by a specific person, or a group of people, it may be that you are new to a place and do not have friends.
You may want to strengthen your relationships to progress in the professional area of your life.
I think if you ask God from your heart, you are only a prayer away from achieving it.
Don’t be afraid to involve God in this and all aspects of your life.
Without a doubt, with God, everything is much better.
