How to have healthy spiritual growth | According to the Bible

Read Time:3 Minute, 48 Second

All believers, by accepting Jesus and walking with Him, enlist in the school of grace.

A process of spiritual growth.

A process that leads us to know God more and to draw closer to Him.

A process that transforms us little by little, so that we reach our full potential, in the likeness of Jesus.

However, it is possible that, in some cases, our attitude towards that process means that we do not develop it in a completely healthy way.

Today, I would like to share with you some ideas about how to have healthy spiritual growth.

For this, I invite you to read this short bible text.

I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles.

He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

Romans 15:14-17

Implicit in this text is an idea related to spiritual growth that I believe to be very valuable and of practical application.

It’s about the fact that; although the apostle, throughout the letter to the Romans, exhorts the church of Rome motivating them to reach a higher standard of spiritual maturity, he was already satisfied with their development so far.

For this reason, at the beginning of the verse, he chooses to validate them, encourage them, affirm them.

He tells them that they are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

One of the ways we can have an unhealthy attitude toward our spiritual growth process is that when we see our weaknesses, we don’t recognize the work God has already done in us.

This can cause us problems of self-concept, frustration, dissatisfaction, or make us judge ourselves very hard.

I think one thing this text teaches us is that you can’t ask a six-month-old baby to run, when he’s just learning to crawl.

In our process of spiritual growth, we need to remember that it is necessary to go through various normal stages, that we are not a finished work yet, but that we are in the hands of a perfect artist.

God.

Remembering that, will allow us to see ourselves with patience, sympathy, and love.

The apostle, through his exhortations, makes it clear to the church of Rome that their process of spiritual growth should not stagnate, for it is not yet over.

He wants them to be an acceptable offering to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

For this reason, they must continue to advance in their faith and in their walk with God.

They must be careful not to back down, but recognizing that it is God who does the good work in them.

He is so satisfied with their normal development, that it allows him to be proud of what they have achieved.

To have a healthy spiritual development, we need to remember that we are in a process that has stages and times, that we are in God’s hands, and that He does not fail.

We need to be grateful and also be satisfied with what God has already done in us.

Dear reader, what I want to tell you is that, if you still remain in Christ, it is not necessary to mistreat yourself by looking at you with impatience and disapproval.

Instead, look at yourself with gratitude, hope, and trust in God.

He will finish the good work in you.

It’s also His process.

I hope these words are a blessing to your life.
