Emptiness Without God: What Does The Bible Say About Feeling Empty?

The experience of feeling that one’s heart is empty is something that only those who have lived it can understand.

This inexplicable feeling of lack of meaning and purpose overwhelms a person, hindering their human development and happiness.

But there is hope for this difficult situation you are going through.

If you feel that your heart is empty, and you wonder what to do; I would like to share with you the real answer to your question.

To do so, I invite you to read with me a small passage from the Bible, from which we will extract some ideas.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

But as for me, it is good to be near God.

I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

| Psalms‬ ‭73:25-26, 28‬

When you feel like your heart is empty, and you don’t know what to do, there’s only one place to go, to God.

This beautiful text has become the motto of my life.

In fact, I believe it should be the motto of every person’s life.

The reason our heart is empty is that we have put our longings into fleeting and temporal things.

After some time, we realize that nothing on this earth can satisfy the ultimate longing of the human heart.

What the human heart really longs for, beyond the noise and distractions around us, is an experience full of purpose and meaning.

When the noise passes and everyone goes away, the heart screams, “earth has nothing I desire besides you.”.

The heart claims God, the heart claims eternity.

To stop feeling like your heart is empty, you need to give it what it really craves.

Give it God.

When this happens, even though we are going through the most adverse circumstances, we will say like the writer of the Bible text:

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge.

What you must do is surrender your heart to God so that he will teach you to live properly.

Living enjoying eternity, the glory of God manifests in our lives through a life of surrender and dependence on Him.

That will change everything.

God knows our needs, He knows our longings and is willing to give us not only what we want, but much better, what He wants for us.

I hope these words have been of blessing to your life.
