qué hacer si me he alejado de Dios

I have turned away from God, what should I do?

Read Time:2 Minute, 55 Second

Often some believers may go through stages of our lives when we lose our gaze on God, and end up moving away from Him.

Either in a condition of spiritual discouragement, or in a condition of sin.

When we get to that point, where we see ourselves turned away from God. What should we do?

I would like to answer that question, starting from an aside from the book of Revelation which reads as follows:

(…)I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

Wake up!

Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent.

But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Revelation‬ ‭3:1-3‬

In an earlier message, it was given by Jesus to the church of Sardis.

The spiritual condition of these people, according to the Bible, had deteriorated.

Like some of us today, perhaps, they could pretend to others that it was not so.

When in fact they were dead in their lukewarmness or sins.

There are several imperatives expressed by Jesus to this community.

They can guide us around what we should do, in terms of this very circumstance.

The first is “Wake Up!”.

Often, sin enters our lives so subtly that we may be far removed from God and think that we are not.

We may not be measuring the seriousness of our circumstances, nor the danger we face.

The first invitation is to recognize our reality.

To see what our circumstances really are and to consider, carefully, the seriousness of our problem.

The second invitation that is made is equally important: “Strengthen what remains.”

An evaluation of those points on which we have not yet failed, those truths which we have not yet renounced.

Those gifts of character that we still retain.

It is easy to destroy, on our own and carelessness, the good work that God has done in us.

Even so, He invites us to be careful not to let deteriorate what we still have in order to turn to Him.

The third invitation is: “go back to what you heard and believed in the beginning, and hold it firmly.”

Dear brother or friend: it doesn’t matter how far we’ve gone from our father.

He will always run to hug us if he sees us coming back.

Just as Jesus promised in the parable of the prodigal son.

At your loving father’s house, there will always be a place at his table for you.

There will always be a warm bed and clean clothes.

You don’t have to wander adrift anymore, renouncing the truths, love, and care of God.

Today, you can remember what you heard and believed in the beginning.

Today, after you identify it, you can go back to it.

With God’s help, He will give you the strength to hold it firmly and start over with Him.

May God bless you and a hug.
