How To Be Wise According To The Bible

Living wisely is one of the most obvious needs of the human experience, yet in the lives of many of us it is overlooked.

Throughout the Bible, God lovingly invites us to live in the best possible way.

To use his wisdom to choose the way we live, so that we are prospered and do well.

Today, I would like to share with you eight bible tips about how to live wisely.

Who is a wise person according to the Bible?

To do so, I invite you to read a small bible text:

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.

Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.

Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:15 – 20

In these Bible verses, the apostle Paul writes to the church of the city of Ephesus giving them advice on the best way to live the Christian life, for this he uses the concept of living wisely.

Here are some of the apostle’s advice:

#1 Be careful of the way you live

Living wisely requires us to be aware of what kind of life is best for us, and to periodically consider whether we are on that path.

When we live just for living, without even thinking about whether what we do is good for us or builds us up, we harm ourselves and lose valuable opportunities for growth.

#2 Don’t live like the unwise

What the apostle means here is that it is possible to live in a way completely opposite to wisdom, damaging our body, deteriorating our mind, neglecting good morals, without having concrete plans, without temperance, without limits.

That’s what it means to live like the unwise, but living wisely means the opposite.

It means valuing our existence and respecting ourselves enough to be careful to do what is right for us.

#3 Take advantage of the time

One of the characteristic elements of a wise life is the proper management of time.

We all deserve and need spaces for recreation, rest, and relaxation, but we cannot pretend to live solely for that.

Taking advantage of time means being clear about what is most important and living for it.

Having plans, longings, dreams, and working to achieve them.

#4 Seek to understand God’s will

To live wisely means to live in God’s will.

God’s will is the best possible purpose for our lives.

Sometimes we decide to turn away from God and seek ways that only bring us death, pain, and destruction.

When we ask God to guide our lives and surrender our will to his, we can have the confidence that he will guide us to what is best.

That’s living wisely.

#5 Don’t get drunk

Another pretty obvious tip for living wisely is not to get drunk.

There is nothing good in intoxicating the mind and clouding judgment with substances that dent our ability to decide correctly and inhibit our better mental faculties.

God wants the best for us, and this means that we think correctly, that we have a healthy mind.

#6 Have God at the center of your life

The apostle says it as being filled with the Holy Spirit, what this means is that living wisely means that we give God control of our entire being by allowing him to dwell in us through his Spirit.

In this way, by having God at the center of life, He will guide us in everything and help us make the best possible decisions.

#7 Keep in good spirits

Another characteristic of a wise life is to maintain good spirits, encourage others, and allow others to support and encourage us.

Life is not always easy, we cannot allow difficulties to make us fall into feelings of hopelessness or defeat because they are self-destructive.

By encouraging others and supporting others, we maintain hope and the best willingness to move forward in life.

#8 Be grateful

The last, but no less important piece of advice to us to live wisely, is that we be grateful to God.

This allows us to focus on the good things in life and maintain a positive attitude.

It also helps us maintain the correct perspective that everything we are and have is thanks to a God who loves us.

Conclusion

Dear reader, God wants you to live the best life possible and to develop your full human potential by imitating Jesus.

You don’t have to live an absurd and unbridled life to be happy.

True happiness is found in the wisdom that comes from living a life with God.

If you haven’t started, I invite you to ask God to lead your entire life.

You won’t regret it.

I hope these words are a blessing to your life.
