What to do if you are dissatisfied with your life? | According to the Bible

Read Time:2 Minute, 56 Second

The first answer that comes to my mind, to the question of what to do if I am dissatisfied with my life? Is change it.

And well, generally speaking, the obvious answer would be that.

However, in many cases, it is not so simple.

There are many things that play a role in your personal satisfaction.

Many of them are related to psychological issues about how you project yourself in relation to others, how grateful you are, how objectively you evaluate your situation.

Among others.

This thought came to me when I read a fragment from the book of Exodus, and I would like to share it with you to broaden that perspective:

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.

The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt!

There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you.

The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.

Éxodo‬ ‭16:2-4‬ ‭

Interestingly, in this story, there is a group of people who are being led by God.

Despite this, these people are not satisfied with their current life experiences.

At this point in history, God had delivered them from Egypt, accompanied them in person through a column of fire and a cloud; and very recently had miraculously provided water for all of them.

God was leading them through a process of healing and psychological and spiritual maturation.

They were living God’s will for their lives at that specific time.

However, they were not satisfied with their life.

Their dissatisfaction reaches the point where they wanted to return to slavery in Egypt.

They longed for a past they considered better, or they preferred to have died in fear of the future.

That’s why I wonder, is it possible to be where God wants us to be and still be dissatisfied?

That certainly happened to the people of Israel.

Now, what to do if we are dissatisfied with our lives?

In response to that question, here are some ideas extracted from the story.

The first thing to do would be for us to objectively assess our situation and consider whether we have decided to live in God’s will and whether we are currently being led by Him.

If so, the answer would be: keep going, don’t look back, walk and trust.

God knows better than you what he does, even if you can’t understand it now.

If the answer is no.

If you don’t think you’re on a path where God guides you.

The way out is clear.

You need a one hundred and eighty-degree turn.

Seek God.

Look for his plans.

Seek his will for your life.

God in his love can take us through the wilderness, but he does it for our good.

Trust him.
