Bible Ideas On How To Rebuke Evil Thoughts

The story of redemption is a precious subject.

In studying it, we find how God throughout history has intervened and will intervene in the life of the human race in order to redeem us from sin.

It’s clearly a story about God’s love.

However, do we have a role in the story of redemption? If so, what is it?

To answer that question, I want to invite you to read with me a fragment from the Bible that reveals interesting concepts about it:

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ (…)

to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ!

Amen.

| Romans‬ ‭16:20, 25-27‬

That’s how the book of Romans ends.

With a phrase of war against Satan.

It is particularly interesting that the verse says that God Himself will destroy Satan, but declares that he will do so under the feet of the followers of Christ.

In other words, he declares that, somehow, the instrument of destruction that the Lord will use for this is his church.

It turns out that our role in the story of redemption is to crush Satan under our feet.

It is clear and irrefutable that Satan was already defeated on the Cross of Calvary.

Beyond that, there’s not much to say.

What the author is declaring, is that in the story of redemption, there is a war in which you and me, as part of Christ’s church, have an active part to develop.

It is inviting us to become aware of that reality.

To fulfill our role and put on the full armor to go out and fight.

We have a role to play, and it is our call to go to a fight, to rescue those who have not received Jesus from the clutches of the evil one.

And to be God’s instrument to push back the kingdom of darkness from it.

How beautiful is the Lord and what a great privilege to be a soldier of his army!
