It is normal that as Christians, we have as our first priority our relationship with God.
We want to have the best possible relationship with Him by living in holiness and obedience to His will.
However, we may also need to strengthen our focus on our relationships with other people.
I would like to share with you a bible fragment that reminds us of this important point of the Christian life and elaborate on some reflections on it.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God.
Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
Love does no harm to a neighbor.
Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.
So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
| Romanos 13:1, 7-8, 10-12
As Christians, God expects us to behave as is worthy of the gospel we have received and to do all things as for God and not for men.
This is why on a daily basis we not only have duties to the Lord, but also to society and to our fellow human beings.
Issues such as respect for the authorities, paying our debts, and loving our neighbor are also Christian duties that we have to our Lord and that are equally valid and worthy of being observed.
While scripture says that it is necessary to obey God before men in cases where that concept does not quarrel with our salvation, it is our duty to be humble and submit to public authorities.
On the other hand, the apostle Paul urges us to wake up from the dream we are in.
Awakening from the trap we are living and seeing life with spiritual eyes.
Set aside everything that separates us from God, and clothe ourselves for battle with the armor of God.
Every day we must live with the awareness of the time in which we are, and it is time to turn daily to God to seek his favor and his will.
