How To Fight Temptation In The Bible

Have you ever felt that nothing goes right?

Have you felt that it is not worth continuing to fight against that addiction, that hidden sin, that character flaw?

Have you felt you have no way to get out of there?

That your faith is too weak, and it does not reach even the size of a mustard seed, to move anything?

I hope today’s verses will encourage you to move forward on your path of faith.

Romans is one of those books of the Bible that are not understood by a superficial reading, but that is completely worth studying.

In chapter two we talk about the Jews, circumcision, and the law.

Now in chapter three, we begin with a question: What advantage does the Jew have?

Paul responds that one of their advantages is that they were entrusted with the word of God.

And then comes this beautiful text:

What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?

| Romans 3:3

It’s a wonderful question, because if you look at the history of Israel, you could easily come to believe that by their unbelief God’s faithfulness was nullified.

But let’s look at the answer:

Not at all!

Let God be true, and every human being a liar.

As it is written:

“So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

Romans 3:4

Don’t you think this is wonderful?

God is faithful, his faithfulness is not nullified by our lack of faith or unbelief, by our many doubts, by our sins, or by our fickle spirit.

His righteousness is eternal, and his love is endless.

Now you might think, but if God is just, he will for sure make me pay for all my sins because he will repay me according to my actions.,

And they are not very worthy, but God already knew that scripture says that there is no righteous even one.

That we are all under the law so that no one boasts, and it is thanks to the law that we can recognize that we are sinners, but apart from the law something has been manifested:

This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

| Romans 3:22- 23

These verses are amazing, because it tells us that the righteousness of God is revealed through faith in Jesus Christ.

It was Jesus Christ who redeemed us, who was able to live a sinless life and who is just, and He is the only mediator between God and men.

It is His works, life, death, and resurrection that are presented to the Father instead of our distrust, sinfulness, and unfaithfulness.

As verse twenty-six says:

he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:26

Then God is just not only because he pays everyone according to his works, but also justifies because he gave Jesus who covers us so that we are no longer the ones who receive the wages of sin.

Instead of receiving them, by believing in Jesus, his righteousness covers our life and by his merits we receive eternal life.

And as I said in verse twenty-three, this is for everyone, because God does not show favoritism, because his faithfulness does not depend on our works.

With Jesus, it is possible to overcome.

By looking at his love, we can confess that hidden sin and give it away so that it no longer occupies any space in our hearts.

God believes in you because Jesus died for you.

Now we must only ask God to strengthen our faith because it is He who gives both the willingness to do it and the one who does it.

May self dies every day so that Jesus may live.

And you know?

At first, the battle may seem impossible to win, but look at Jesus and then remember that: by faith, we ask him to cover us with his cloak of righteousness and help us overcome because even if everyone stops believing in you, God will never stop.

Do not surrender before that flaw of character, do not surrender to sin, to addiction.

Do not surrender to watch series that contribute nothing to your spiritual life, or those thoughts that tell you that you are worth nothing.

Neither give in to the ideas that tell you will never achieve anything, do not give in to that girl or boy who you know does not have Jesus in his heart.

Do not give in to gossip or criticism, depression or anxiety.

Remember that Jesus believes in you and died for you, he won for you, and he wants to help you have faith in Him and help you live for Him.

What is faith? Is it hard for you to believe that despite your unfaithfulness and mistakes, God is still faithful and loves you? Share what you think in the comments.
