lo que está mal en la humanidad

What is wrong with humanity? | According to the Bible

Read Time:3 Minute, 46 Second

It is hard to deny the obvious possibility that something is wrong with humanity.

By looking around us at the atrocities committed by some, and without needing to go far, by reviewing our own mistakes, we can see that something is not right.

But what is it?

Only yesterday the renowned American scientist Stephen Hawking passed away, and while the whole of humanity mourns his death, and exalts a number of his qualities; sitting in the living room of my house, I ask the Lord some questions.

Is there anything good left in us human beings that is worthy of being exalted?

Aren’t our noble attributes the product, only, of the grace of God that still shines in humanity?

To answer the question of what is wrong with humanity?

I invite you to address a fragment of the scripture that gives us direction about it:

As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.

All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good, not even one.”

This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,

since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.

Romans‬ ‭3:10-12, 22, 30‬‬‬~

The Bible says that the heart of man is deceitful and evil, and also declares that on earth there is no one who does perfect good.

So why do we sometimes see people making acts of selfless love?

The first thing we must understand about it is that the human being was created in the image and likeness of God.

Although the divine qualities and characteristics conferred on us have mostly been corrupted and eradicated by sin, vestiges of them can still be seen.

But for the most part, it is observable that humanity is constantly advancing from continuous to evil.

The second thing we should try to come closer to understanding is the holiness and purity of God.

We human beings have lived most of our history with a terrible and dreadful disease.

But since we all suffer from it and have always lived with it, we find it difficult to conceive of life without it.

In God’s eyes, because he knows the perfection, purity, and holiness of his sinless created universe; the human situation, which to us seemed natural, would prove to be almost intolerable.

We certainly cannot see for ourselves its gravity.

So in that context of holiness, still unknown to most of us, is that the Lord judges humanity and finds us lacking.

To the point of declaring that no one does anything perfectly good.

What is wrong with humanity is that we have violated the purpose of our existence.

This idea is summed up in one word: sin.

The problem of sin is not a problem we should take lightly.

It is a disease that we must, with the help of the Holy Spirit, begin to treat with the blood of Christ in our lives urgently.

It is a problem of such magnitude that we are unable to solve, and that God Himself had to solve for us.

Humanity has such a serious and terrible problem, that only the death and suffering of God Himself could give us a chance to be restored.

The cross of Christ is not only the symbol of God’s sublime love, but also the symbol of the gravity of our situation, which only the death of God Himself in the human form could remedy.

How good that the Lord in his infinite paternal love, even though we are as small as we are, did not leave us with a problem that we cannot solve.

Jesus is the solution to what is wrong in humanity, our actions, and merits before the absolute holiness of God, are not at all pleasant, but the blood of Christ is the one that covers us to be accepted and justified by the father.
