Today, minutes before I started writing on fulfilling god’s purpose for your life, someone asked me, what is your life purpose?
The question took me by surprise because I did not expect it, I tried to divert attention from the subject to take a few seconds to answer.
After my pause, the only response my lips could express fulfilling god’s purpose for your life was to “follow Jesus.”
In my Bible studies these days, I am meditating on the book of Philippians.
Among the verses I’ve been studying is this:
“For for me living is Christ, and dying is gain.”
Philippians 1:21
This short verse represents the statement of fulfilling God’s purpose for your life
The apostle Paul had recognized and fulfilled God’s purpose for his life as one: to live for Jesus.
Among my deepest reflections, I often stumble upon how superficial our existence can become when we live it for ourselves.
Put in the words of one of my favorite singers, “to live for yourself is to lose the best part”.
And it’s that I find something of nonsense in living life just for the purpose of living.
Fulfilling God’s purpose for your life according to the Bible is to follow Jesus, to serve Jesus, to live for Jesus.

I would like to propose three ways to fulfill God’s purpose for your life according to the Bible:
#1. Helping those in need
Living for Jesus as God’s purpose for your life involves paying attention to the needs of other people.
Depose selfishness and indifference.
Dress the naked, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, host the homeless, give a hand to those who need it.
If we do these things, it’s like we do them for God. It assist fulfil God’s purpose for your life
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:40
#2 Teaching others to know purpose of their life
Another important element of fulfilling God’s purpose for your life according to the Bible is to experience in your life the love of God in Christ in a profound way.
Then share that reality with others.
Jesus asked us to do that by giving us the great commission:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
# 3. Being the best version of ourselves
Another way of fulfilling God’s purpose of your life according to the Bible is by being the best version of yourself.
That can be achieved by imitating the best possible ideal.
The best possible ideal is Jesus.
When you try to be like Jesus, you get the best out of the potential God has put in you.
That’s why fulfilling God’s purpose for your life, it’s important that you listen to what Jesus counsels you and try to put it into practice.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Now remain in my love.
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
John 15:9-10
If you want to live fulfilling God’s purpose for your life beyond the superficial, I recommend that you live for Jesus.
You are to follow Jesus for the purpose of your life.
You will never regret it.
