How to change flaws and be a better person | According to the Bible

Read Time:3 Minute, 56 Second

For a long time in our lives, we can live unaware of our flaws and weaknesses.

Without accepting that they are there, or without realizing them.

This happens until at some point we realize it.

We become aware that it is not right to behave in certain ways.

At that moment, we long to be better people.

We long for change.

However, we realize that we do not know how to do it, or that it is quite difficult.

In most cases, no matter how much we try, we cannot do it alone.

I would like to share a bible story with you that teaches us a very important idea about how to change flaws and be a better person.

This is the story of Saul when he was appointed king of Israel.

Saul, like all of us, had flaws in his character which he needed to overcome.

These flaws would make it difficult for him to become the king God needed.

The news of his election to be king came completely by surprise.

How could he be prepared to take on that tremendous responsibility?

The Bible gives us the answer, please read with me:

“At that moment the spirit of the Lord will come upon you with his power, and you will prophesy with them, and the change in you will be remarkable, for you will act as if you were another man.”

1 Samuel 10:6

After their first meeting, Samuel tells Saul that he would become another man when, on his way home, he finds a group of men prophesying.

At that moment, the spirit of God would come upon him, and he would prophesy as well.

I want you to notice in this story the direct connection between receiving God’s Spirit and being a new person.

The key to changing flaws and being better is in recognizing that we can’t do it alone.

We need God’s help to achieve this.

In Saul’s case, he became a new person when the Spirit of God came upon him.

In the same way today, we too can get to improve, to change, to leave the past behind, to start over if we let God take control of our minds.

When the Spirit of God comes upon a person, He gives new life, teaches, corrects, instructs, transforms, gives strength to move forward.

What you need to change isn’t just discipline and determination, which are important.

What you need most is to receive the Spirit of God in your life.

Receive God.

He has promised that He will give us a new heart, that He will change us to be more like Jesus.

May He finish the work that He has begun in us.

Just as God changed Saul’s heart because he had a purpose for his life.

Your life in God’s hands also has a special purpose.

God wants to help you develop your best potential.

God wants you to become the best version of yourself.

Not from a secular perspective, but from an eternal perspective.

He doesn’t ask you to change, He asks you to let Him change you.

Instead of pressuring yourself and focusing exclusively on yourself, put it on God, on His love, on His power, on His goodness, on His mercy.

Understand that it is He, before you, who changes hearts.

What if you start today by doing a little prayer, asking God for help in transforming you?

Ask him to show you the right path.

Ask him to put good people in your way to teach you more about Him.

Ask him to help you start studying the Bible.

Ask Him.

Repeat that same prayer every day, continue to pray, and let God show you what you need to improve.

He will not only show you your mistakes, but He will also show you why they are there, to help you correct their causes.

Let God change you.

The most important thing is that your heart stays connected to His.

If you let God’s Spirit dwell in you, He will give you love for God and for others.

That love is the true life-transforming force.

I wish you all the best in this new beginning.

I hope these words are a blessing to your life.
