15 Verses on Free Will in the Bible

Free will in the Bible is one of the most beautiful blessings the Lord Jesus has given us.

The Bible tells us of the great freedom to choose that God does not give, you are free to do or not to do, to follow or not to follow Christ.

The verses about free will in the Bible are not for you to rebelliously make the decision to save yourself or lose yourself, which you surely can.

Rather, what is sought is for you to realize that God does not want to force you to follow Him, but wants you to make the decision to follow Him out of love.

Therefore, I will judge you, each according to his conduct, O house of Israel,” declares the Lord God. Repent and depart from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be a stumbling block for you. Cast out of yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, house of Israel? For I am not pleased in the death of anyone “declares the Lord God.” Repent and live.

Ezekiel 18:30-32

So I say, Walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the desire of the flesh. For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit(s) against the flesh, for they oppose each other, so that you cannot do what you desire.

See, I have today set before you life and good, death and evil; for I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His decrees, that you may live and multiply, that the LORD your God may bless you in the land which you are going to enter to possess it. But if your heart wanders and you do not listen, but let yourself be dragged and prostrate yourself before other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you will certainly perish.

You will not prolong {your} days on the land where you {go,} crossing the Jordan to enter it and possess it. Heaven and earth I place today as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose, then, life that you and your descendants may live, loving the LORD your God, listening to His voice and alleging you to Him; for that is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20
